Yom Kippur: The Day of Repentance

Yom Kippur Morning Service – Tuesday, September 19, 9:30am - 2:15pm

The morning service includes Yizkor, a time for remembering loved ones who have died, following the reading of the Torah, at approximately noon. The Musaf service at 1:15pm includes the beautiful liturgy unique to the High Holydays. Family and youth programs start at 10:00am, and childcare ends after Shacharit, at 1:15pm (beginning again at 5pm).  Guests are welcome, even if you are not able to pre-register. Sukkot Celebration

5:40pm Welcoming the Holiday in the Sukkah

6:00pm Potluck Sukkot dinner

At 4:45pm, families with children 0-6 years are invited to a fun holiday program in the sukkah. At 5:30pm, adults and kids of all ages are invited to join us for songs and blessings as we welcome the Sukkot holiday, followed by a vegetarian potluck dinner at 6pm.

Please bring a main dish or salad to share.

Sukkot Morning Service

Sukkot is the “Festival of the Ingathering,” the Biblical harvest holiday where we celebrate the abundance in our lives while remembering the precariousness of our ancestors’ journey through the wilderness. Bring your lulav and etrog as we sing Hallel and celebrate the holiday!

Simchat Torah Celebration

We close the week of Sukkot festivities with this celebration of the Torah! All ages are welcome as we mark the end of the year cycle of reading Torah and begin anew with Torah Quiz, dancing with the Torah scrolls, and unrolling the scroll to read the very end and the very beginning! Join Rabbi Toba and CDT musicians for this musical, fun evening.

Who We Are

Dorshei Tzedek is a dynamic and growing Reconstructionist congregation in West Newton, Massachusetts, with over 200 member households. We are dedicated to Jewish learning and to ethical Jewish living in the modern world. Our Reconstructionist educational program is committed to making Judaism relevant and meaningful for children as well as adults.

Our community includes people from a wide variety of Jewish backgrounds, as well as interfaith families and people with little or no previous Jewish learning or experience. We embrace one another’s unique points of view. Our membership includes families, couples, and singles of all ages, Jews by birth and Jews by choice (or still choosing).
